Introduction National Institute of Urdu (NIU), Saharanpur, UP India has been established by an Act XXI of 1860 of Govt. of India (Societies Registration Act) under the management of society for promotion Urdu Language and educational development, working areas in all India, spreading education through Urdu. Hindi and English Mediums. The prime objective of the Institute is to extend help and all support to the students of Muslim Minority Community and weaker and poor section of the Society with special emphasis on men and girls education. National Institute of Urdu (NIU), Saharanpur, UP India is and autonomous body which is established for development of education policy 1986, and Program of Action 1992, Govt. of India. The mission of the Institute is not only to educate the students of Muslim Minority Community but also educate all students of India who have not been able to get education for one or other reasons. National Institute of Urdu (NIU) is also recognized by Govt. of India.
National Institute of Urdu (NIU) is running 5th to 8th Standard, Secondary and Senior Secondary level courses in Urdu, English and Hindi medium on the pattern of National Institute of Open Schooling (an autonomous organization under Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of ,India), and (NCERT, New Delhi) for students of Muslim Minority Community with special emphasis on girls/women education, rural youth, working men and women, SC/ST, OBC and other disadvantaged persons who could not continue their formal education for some reasons. The Institute is also running various professional/vocational Certificate/Diploma Courses. Since, our institution is a minority institution formed under Article 29 & 30 of Constitution of India and has adopted syllabus of National Institute of Open Schooling (an autonomous organization under Ministry of HRD, Govt. of India) and syllabus based on NCERT pattern. In consideration of this many reputed Institute/ Madarsa/Universities/Board of India and aboard has given positive responses by allowing our students to take further admission in higher studies of their institutions by extending recognition of the courses of Secondary and Senior Secondary of National Institute of Urdu (NIU).
Our Institute is committed to promote and popularize education under Open and Distance Learning Education System also and envisaging a comprehensive Self Instructional Study Materials Delivery System that gives an opportunity to the students to get education without attending daily classes & to provide platform for job oriented Government recognized vocational, professional and technical courses and higher education to all irrespective of age/sex/caste/creed/religion or any sort of social, religious or economic discrimination. National Institute of Urdu (NIU) is also making all efforts in modernizing Madarsa education by introducing subjects like English, Science, Maths, Computer, etc.
